Sam Lynn Ball Park - Bakersfield, CA
The Sam Lynn Ball Park is one of the only two ballparks where the batters face west and the oldest ballpark to have this distinction. It is a historic ballpark that was originally built back in 1941. It is also one of the most popular attractions in Bakersfield CA for sports events and other fun activities. The park is operated and managed by the local parks and recreation authorities.
You can catch a game of baseball at the park but you will have to plan it in the evening. This is because most of the baseball games at the park take place during the evening. The batters face westward, so the setting sun shines directly into the eyes of the batters. For this reason, most games at the ballpark are scheduled from 8 p.m. onwards. Prior to the game be sure to check out our award winning pool service in the area. Check it out here
If you want a casual evening with some light fun, catching a game at the ballpark is the perfect option. If you are with a group, you can even rent out the entire facility and stage your own game on the field. Be sure to check out our pools with other local family home owners.
The park also hosts a range of non-baseball events and activities year round. These include regular dog shows for the local dog owners and vendors. A notable attraction at the Sam Lynn Ballpark in Bakersfield CA is the drive-in movies. These are displayed on the huge outdoor screen installed in the parking lot of the ballpark. Movies are regularly scheduled for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. So if are looking for some outdoor movie-watching, the ballpark’s open space is the perfect spot.
The current tenant of the ballpark is the Bakersfield Train Robbers. The team does not play in the major or minor leagues, although it is a part of the Pecos league.
